Messa da Requiem

1. Requiem et Kyrieet
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine;
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion,
et tibi reddetur votum
in Jerusalem.
Exaudi orationem meam:
ad te omnis caro veniet.
Kyrie eleison.
Christe eleison.
Kyrie eleison.

2. Dies irae
Dies irae, dies illa,
solvet saeclum in favilla,
teste David cum Sibylla.
Quantus tremor est futurus,
quando Judex est venturus,
cuncta stricte discussurus!
Tuba mirum spargens sonum,
per sepulchra regionum,
coget omnes ante thronum.
Mors stupebit et natura,
cum resurget creatura,
judicanti responsura.
Liber scriptus proferetur,
in quo totum continetur,
unde mundus judicetur.
Judex ergo cum sedebit,
quid quid latet apparebit:
nil inultum remanebit.
Dies irae, dies illa,
solvet saeclum in favilla,
teste David cum Sibylla.
Quid sum miser tunc dicturus?
Quem patronum rogaturus,
cum vix justus sit securus?
Rex tremendae majestatis,
qui salvandos salvas gratis:
salva me, fons pietatis.
Recordare, Jesu pie,
quod sum causa tuae viae:
ne me perdas illa die.
Quaerens me, sedisti lassus;
redemisti crucem passus:
tantus labor non sit cassus.
Juste Judex ultionis:
donum fac remissionis
ante diem rationis.
Ingemisco tamquam reus,
culpa rubet vultus meus;
supplicanti parce, Deus.
Qui Mariam absolvisti,
et latronem exaudisti,
mihi quoque spem dedisti.
Preces meae non sunt dignae,
sed tu, bonus, fac benigne,
ne perenni cremer igne.
Inter oves locum praesta,
et ab haedis me sequestra,
statuens in parte dextra.
Confutatis maledictis,
flammis acribus abdictis,
voca me cum benedictis.
Oro supplex et acclinis,
cor contritum quasi cinis:
gere curam mei finis.
Dies irae, dies illa,
solvet saeclum in favilla,
teste David cum Sibylla.
Lacrymosa dies illa,
qua resurget ex favilla,
judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus.
Pie Jesu Domine: dona eis requiem.
Amen.

3. Offertorio
Domine Jesu Christe, Rex gloriae:
libera animas omnium fidelium
defunctorum de poenis inferni
et de profundo lacu;
Libera eas de ore leonis;
ne absorbeat eas tartarus,
ne cadant in obscurum.
Sed signifer sanctus Michael
repraesentet eas in lucem sanctam.
Quam olim Abrahae promisisti et
semini ejus.
Hostias et preces tibi, Domine,
laudis offerimus.
Tu suscipe pro animabus illis, quarum
hodie memoriam facimus.
Fac eas, Domine, de morte transire
ad vitam, quam olim Abrahae
promisisti et semini ejus.
Libera animas omnium fidelium
defunctorum de poenis inferni;
fac eas de morte transire ad vitam.

4. Sanctus
Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus,
Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua.
Hosanna in excelsis!
Benedictus qui venit in nomine
Domini.
Hosanna in excelsis!

5. Agnus dei
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
dona eis requiem.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
dona eis requiem sempiternam.

6. Lux aeterna
Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine,
cum sanctis tuis in aeternum;
quia pius es.
Requiem aeternam dona eis,
Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis,
cum sanctis tuis in aeternum;
quia pius es.

7. Libera me
Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna
in die illa tremenda;
quando coeli movendi
sunt et terra:
dum veneris judicare saeculum
per ignem.
Tremens factus sum ego et timeo,
dum discussio venerit atque
ventura irae, quando coeli movendi
sunt et terra.
Dies irae, dies illa calamitatis et miseriae;
dies magna et amara valde.
Requiem aeternam, dona eis, Domine, et
lux perpetua luceat eis.
Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna in
die illa tremenda.
Libera me, Domine, quando coeli
movendi sunt et terra;
Dum veneris judicare saeculum
per ignem.
Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna
in die illa tremenda.
Libera me.
1. Requiem and Kyrieet
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord;
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
A hymn befits You, O God, in Zion,
and to You shall a vow be repaid
in Jerusalem.
Hear my prayer:
to You all flesh shall come.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

2. The Day of Wrath
Day of wrath, that day,
will dissolve the world in ashes,
as David testified with the Sibyl.
How great will be the trembling,
when the Judge is to come,
strictly examining all things!
A trumpet, wondrously sounding,
through the graves of the regions,
will gather all before the throne.
Death and nature will marvel,
when the creation rises again,
to respond to the Judge.
A written book will be brought forth,
in which the whole will be contained,
from which the world will be judged.
Therefore, when the Judge takes His seat,
whatever is hidden will appear:
nothing will remain unavenged.
Day of wrath, that day,
will dissolve the world in ashes,
as David testified with the Sibyl.
What will I, wretched one, then say?
To whom will I pray for help,
when scarcely the just man is secure?
King of tremendous majesty,
who freely saves those deserving to be saved:
save me, O fount of mercy.
Remember, O gentle Jesus,
that I am the reason for Your journey:
do not forsake me on that day.
Seeking me, You sat down weary;
You redeemed me, suffering on the cross:
let such great labor not be in vain.
Just Judge of vengeance:
grant the gift of remission
before the day of reckoning.
I groan as one guilty,
my face is red with shame;
spare the suppliant, O God.
You who absolved Mary,
and heard the robber,
give me hope as well.
My prayers are not worthy,
but You, good one, act kindly,
lest I burn in everlasting fire.
Grant me a place among the sheep,
and separate me from the goats,
setting me on the right side.
When the accursed have been confounded,
and cast into fierce flames,
call me with the blessed.
I pray, suppliant and kneeling,
a heart contrite like ashes:
take care of my end.
Day of wrath, that day,
will dissolve the world in ashes,
as David testified with the Sibyl.
Oh, that day full of tears,
on which mankind will rise from the ashes,
to be judged guilty.
Therefore, spare this one, O God.
Gentle Lord Jesus, grant them rest.
Amen.

3. Offertory
Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory:
deliver the souls of all the faithful
departed from the pains of hell
and from the bottomless pit;
Deliver them from the mouth of the lion;
let not hell swallow them,
nor let them fall into darkness.
But may the holy standard-bearer Michael
lead them into the holy light,
As You once promised
to Abraham and his seed.
Sacrifices and prayers,
we offer You, Lord, in praise.
Receive them for those souls whom
we commemorate today.
Let them pass, Lord, from death
to life as You once
promised Abraham and his seed.
Deliver the souls of all the faithful
departed from the punishments of hell;
let them pass from death to life.

4. Sanctus
Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of Your glory.
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name
of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest!

5. Lamb of God
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world,
grant them rest.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world,
grant them everlasting rest.

6. Eternal Light
Eternal light shine upon them, O Lord,
with Your saints forever;
for You are merciful.
Eternal rest grant unto them,
O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them,
with Your saints forever;
for You are merciful.

7. Deliver Me
Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death
on that tremendous day;
when the heavens and the earth
will be shaken:
when You will come to judge the world
by fire.
I am made to tremble and fear,
when the judgment comes and
the wrath to come, when the heavens and the earth
will be shaken.
Day of wrath, that day of calamity and misery;
a great and exceedingly bitter day.
Eternal rest, grant unto them, O Lord, and
let perpetual light shine upon them.
Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death on
that tremendous day.
Deliver me, O Lord, when the heavens
are shaken and the earth;
when You will come to judge the world
by fire.
Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death
on that tremendous day.
Deliver me.
